Google Remains On Top

When you think about search engines, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Google, right? There’s no doubt about it. All these years since 1998, Google has become a very famous brand synonymous to searches. Web users of all ages around the world know about this and they continue to rely on this credible and highly respected search engine.

Since the start of its booming years, Google up to this day remains the most important search engine on the internet. More than 50 percent of all search engine traffic actually comes from Google and if you are able to achieve a high ranking from it, you can rest assured get a top spot in other search engines as well. Google’s popularity peaked in early 2004 when it accommodated 84.7 percent of all search requests on the internet through its website and its partnerships with other clients including Yahoo, AOL and CNN.

Renowned for its objective methods of ranking websites, Google never ceases to better its techniques both in improving search rankings and overcoming fraudulent acts that target to deceive and destroy its processes. This popular search engine can never be tricked because it modifies its policies every now and then to suit the needs of web users.

Google’s achievements

Internet analysts point out that Google is committed to pursuing technical and visual improvements to personalized searches to provide unique results according to the users’ search requests. This is evident in the search engine’s frequent release of new innovative and helpful products such as Google Labs, XML Sitemaps, Google Docs and Spreadsheets, Google Toolbar, Deskbar, Desktop Search, Google SMS, Google Mini, Google Store, Maps, Google Video, Web Accelerator, Google Talk, Desktop, Analytics and the list can go on.

With the ever expanding internet community and the challenges posed by other major technology companies, Google maintains its competitive position not only in the field of search engine optimization but in advertising as well. It has also acquired several small start-up firms since 2001. Among them were Pyra Labs, Upstartle, JotSpot, Trendalyzer, Adscape Media and the well-known online video site YouTube which it bought for $1.65 billion in 2006.

Google’s top position in the internet technology world is further boosted by its partnerships with major organizations like NASA, Sun Microsystems, Time Warner’s AOL, British Sky Broadcasting, Fox Interactive Media, United Nations, National Geographic and National Park Service. The search engine king has committed to building a research and development center for NASA and to be involved in various research projects. For Sun Microsystems, Google will help in the reciprocal distribution of their technologies.

Google is truly unbeatable because of its numerous achievements in more than a decade of existence on the world wide web. It’s also important to note that Google’s success is not only limited to the corporate world and the information technology (IT) industry but spans a wide variety of areas including education, multi media and the environment. The Google management is currently mum about its future projects because it says surprises enable them to keep their competitive edge. But one thing’s for sure, all they do is for the love of innovation and devotion to its loyal users.
